Customer: It’s been 15 months since my bilateral inguinal hernia surgery (laparoscopic with mesh). About a month ago following some vigorous physical activity I felt some discomfort on the left side. A physical exam and an ultrasound showed no signs of recurrence, though I can feel some strain of my hip flexors.This morning after some vigorous physical activity I noticed a tiny bump in the area of the repair, which is also the location of a small lipoma. After cooling down from the physical activity, the bump subsided. I can’t feel any protrusion or pressure when I palpate the area while coughing and there’s no pain, but I’m concerned about a recurrence.Is it possible that the tiny bump that I noticed is just scar tissue forming and swelling from the physical activity, especially given that it subsided quickly after physical activity? Even though the physical exam and ultrasound showed no recurrence, could a recurrence could have been missed by the exam and imaging?What are your thoughts and what would you recommend?

In all likelihood, it is scar tissue, which is inelastic tissue and can cause a bumpy appearance after physical activity.
Ultrasound and physical exam are unlikely to miss the recurrence.
Avoiding vigorous physical activity in a single stretch, especially weight lifting, may be avoided.
